Where to Watch Live Sport in London

Sports! You love them, or you hate them – until you don’t.

Limiting yourself to football can be a little boring if you love sports. There’s so much more to the physical competitions than watching Arsenal and Manchester United in a live sports bar, although that can be rather fun, too.

Consider watching live sports in London by attending a cricket match, or a football game or a round of rugby!

Here’s every way to enjoy live sports when you’re in the city of London. Enjoy!

Sports Bars

Let’s begin with the obvious! You can watch live sports in London by going into pretty much any bar. There are, however, certain bars that are simply put: better when it comes to live sports games. Consider checking out the Actress in south London, and it’s a sports-focused bar that also serves sourdough pizza that will make your mouth water.

Bar Kick in east Londons Shoreditch is another impressive bar for live sports. Once the game is over, you can enjoy table football, pub food and cocktails. If you’re looking to watch premier league, this is the only bar you need.

Wembley Stadium for IRL football

The largest football stadium in London is Wembley Stadium, with a whopping 90,000 seats. The average stadium capacity is 23,878, which might give you perspective as to it’s an absolute enormity.

It’s easy to get there, and three tube lines will take you right where you need to be, Bakerloo, Jubilee and the Metropolitan line. Regardless of where you’re staying be it Grand Royale Hotel London or in a humble abode in Shoreditch, you’ll be able to get there right in time for the game.

Twickenham Stadium for live rugby

Where are all the rugby fans at? Head south-west to the Twickenham Stadium to check out some good old fashioned rugby. Although the Rugby Football Union owns the location, it is also used to host concerts. Rihanna, Iron Maiden, Beyonce, The Police and Bon Jovi are among the many world-known musicians performed in the stadium.

It’s the second-largest stadium in the UK, and a must-see if you’re a big rugby fan. There’s nothing like watching live rugby when you’re actually in the stadium.

Lord’s Cricket ground for you guessed it, cricket

It’s the home of Ashes Urn and MCC – you can enjoy IRL cricket in London, too! The north-west location has breakout rooms, as well as raked and tiered seating opportunities.

If you’re planning a visit around watching cricket, check out the Hotels Near Bayswater Station. It’s central but not as touristy or crowded, and just a 13-minute taxi ride to Lord’s Cricket Ground. The trip will allow you to see more of London than you would in the tube.

Crystal Palace for swimming

The Crystal Palace location is a great spot to watch semi-professional sports. The centre includes an indoor pool, outdoor sports pitches, tennis courts, climbing wall and squash courts.

Although you don’t need to purchase tickets, it can still be an enjoyable thing to watch. Bring your own energizing sports drink and hit a squash court after watching a swimming competition take place.

What’s your favourite way to watch live sports? Perhaps a mix of bars and stadiums is the best of both worlds.
