Unusual things to do in Shoreditch

If you want to experience the quirky and cool side of London, Shoreditch - located in the city’s East End - is just the place to visit. It offers a unique insight into the alternate side of glamorous London with its own unique flavour and character, making it an interesting change to explore when on holiday.

There are a good number of boutique hotels in Shoreditch to stay while in the city.

The M by Montcalm Shoreditch London Tech City is a budget-friendly boutique property with all the facilities and amenities one can expect from a top-notch luxury hotel. The perfect accommodation to settle into before setting off on a tour of the Shoreditch area!

Travel to Shoreditch is convenient and easy via Rail, Tube and bus. The stations include Aldgate East, Shoreditch High Street, and Liverpool Street Station etc.

A great place to shop for unique items: The area is famous for its quirky selection of items you will not get anywhere else in London. There are loads of pop-up shops and boutiques in the area selling an eclectic mix of items. These range from vintage clothing to homeware. Two great spots to shop at in Shoreditch are:

Brick Lane: For the best of retro shopping Brick Lane is the destination to head with heaps of vintage stores. Spend a leisurely afternoon browsing through the diverse selection of items sold in stores and stalls here. There are even great seconds stores to explore. The top place to begin your shopping spree is Rokit after which you can drop in at other shops in the neighbourhood. Another area to look for some cool items is Cheshire Street.

BoxPark: Boxpark is one of the most prominent landmarks in the area because of its unique feature of shops opened in shipping containers. The area is famous for its pop-ups where you can get a wonderful choice of food items, drinks and other stuff. A number of local upcoming designers also showcase their creations in the pop-up stores, plus homeware stores etc. The items sold in the market are subject to the day of the week with something new always found here.

Enjoy the best beigel in town: When in the East End try out the favourite local delicacy a classic and cheap, Shoreditch’s legendary beigel. They are available in a variety of combinations with the salt beef beigel served with a topping of pickle and mustard served on a fresh beigel, simply too good to miss. While there are two shops that sell beigels in the area, Beigel Bake is probably tops! As both places stay open 24/7 after a long night of pub crawling head to either for your post booze meal.

Admire the best street art: The East End is famous for its world-class street art. It is all over the area of Shoreditch with iconic street artists like Banksy and Nathan Bowen having left their mark (in this case street art) across the neighbourhood. With other up-coming artists works also on display you always something new to see. The best way to see the art forms is to join an East London Street Art Tour.
