Top museums to visit in Kensington

The ritzy area of Kensington is out of the most sought after addresses in London. It offers visitors plenty of dining and shopping options apart from being home to some of the finest museums in the city. Victoria & Albert Museum:

If you are staying at The Park Grand London Kensington Hotel, it is just a mile away along Cromwell Road from the V&A Museum. It is a part of the Science and Natural History Museums in the area. The Victoria & Albert Museum was set up in 1852 and relocated to its current location in 1909. It encompasses more than 13 acres and comprises of a vast collection of items and exhibits. There are 145 galleries, which contain more than five millennia of art and related items. Some of the items of the eclectic collection include jewellery, costumes, photographs, sculpture, textiles, ironwork, glass and prints among other items. As it is not possible to see all of its collection on a trip you must decide before your visit as to which galleries you would like to explore.

Natural History Museum:

Founded in 1754, the Natural History Museum was formed from a private collection of 10,000 preserved animal specimens, 334 plant species and approximately 50,000 books. Now it comprises of more than 70 million exhibits that cover a range of areas. These include botany, entomology, zoology, mineralogy and paleontology. Its collection is a valuable resource fro scientific research and it has played an active role in the conservation of nature and wildlife across the planet. Its incredible collection also comprises of specimens gathered by Charles Darwin.

Science Museum:

One of the most popular and visited museums in London the Science Museum is a place that kids and even adults enjoy a visit to. It has a massive collection of exhibits and showcases the development of science and technology through the ages. One of most popular attractions is its famous IMAX 3D Cinema that exhibits a wide variety of science themed movies. Other highlights at the Museum include its many interactive displays, the Launchpad Gallery and numerous activities and events. A visit to the Science Museum is an incredible experience and there is no admission fee to visit the venue.
