The Beaches and Coastline

North Norfolk has 45 miles of unspoilt coastline which equals miles of beaches, cliffs, grass-tufted dunes, tidal salt marshes and quaint seaside towns. In particular you have Cromer, Hunstanton, Mundesley and Holkham which would all make excellent destinations and which each have some fantastic Norfolk hotels to choose from. There’s a reason this part of the county has been designated an Area of Outstanding Beauty and it is worth seeing for yourself.

The Wildlife

North Norfolk is home to a whole variety of nature and wildlife particularly when it comes to different species of birds. Birdwatchers will love the marshes and the nature reserves dotted around this part of Norfolk which allow you to get up close to the likes of merlins, peregrines and pink-footed geese. There is also England’s largest seal colony to enjoy and admire near Blakeney Point, just 15 minutes drive from the Harpers.

The Heritage

This part of the county can boast a number of fantastic steam railways so if you want to take a quaint step back in time then you can. Catch the Poppy Line which runs between Sheringham and Holt or ride the longest narrow gauge railway in the world between Walsingham and Wells. The coastline is also a goldmine of history and is a great place to go digging for fossils; a 600,000 year old mammoth’s remains were once found here as were 850,000 year old footprints. Whilst you might not get that lucky, it’s certainly fun to have a go.

The End of Pier Show

Cromer’s Pavilion Theatre, which is located at the end of Cromer Pier is now the only theatre in the world to produce an in-house show every summer and winter season. It has 500 seats which gives the production a very intimate feel and the shows provide a diverse blend of pop music, West End ballads, comedy and speciality acts. It’s a fascinating slice of seaside history and well worth checking out if you visit the area.

The Countryside

As well as the breathtaking coastline, north Norfolk is also home to beautiful open countryside which is perfect for walking and cycling. You could set your own walk and follow the quiet country lanes which populate this part of the county or follow an existing trail such as the Norfolk Coast Path.

The Broads

Norfolk is well known for its Broads National Park; the country’s largest protected wetland and north Norfolk is home to a large part of it. It’s a real haven for wildlife and birds as well as being a picturesque place to explore.
