Independent Shops

If you like to buy unique items or simply want to explore somewhere a little different then streets such as Magdalene Street, Bridge Street, Bene’t Street, Rose Crescent and King Street are the perfect places to head. Not only are they picturesque with their cobbled walkways but they can also boast an array of stores, bars and restaurants.

Grand Arcade

The Grand Arcade is the newest shopping destination in the city and boasts over 60 retailers under one roof including a large John Lewis department store. A number of high street brands also have stores across several floors including Topshop and River Island.

Trinity Street

If you are staying in one of the hotels in central Cambridge then Trinity Street is a must-visit; not only is it one of the more historical streets in the city but it is also home to a number of quirky and independent boutiques. Even if you can’t afford the price tag of the items on display here it is fun to wander along the street and indulge in a little window shopping.

Market Square

Another must-visit if you want to combine history and retail therapy is Market Square, home to the historic open-air market which can be found Monday to Saturday. The General Market has a whole host of stalls from fruit and veg to clothing, books, crafts and even the first ever outdoor hairdresser, something which is unique to Cambridge. It’s the perfect place to combine with taking advantage of one of the hotel deals in Cambridge as you can pick up some great bargains. Leading off from Market Square is Market Street which features brands such as Karen Millen and Fat Face.

The Grafton

If you don’t mind heading a short way out from the city centre then you might also enjoy a trip to The Grafton. The Grafton has more than 70 retailers which includes popular high street names such as Next, Debenhams and Mothercare. There are also a good number of cafes and restaurants as well as a cinema if you find you want to take a break from shopping for a little light entertainment.

Green Street

Green Street connects with Trinity Street and is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque in the city. Although it is mostly home to specialist shops such as music stores, hair salons and outdoor clothing, it is well worth taking a diversion from the main stretch of shopping streets to wander along this quaint stretch.
