London’s Attractions for Teenagers

When you are in your teens, you are neither a kid nor an adult and as such, you would neither be interested in kids’ activities nor would you be capable of exploring on your own. However, for families with teenagers visiting London there is no dearth of things to do and places to explore in this mega metropolis, as long as they know where to find them. Given below are a few suggestions.

The Fear Factor:

Teenagers have young blood in them and an adventurous spirit due to which they love to explore the mysterious and the spooky areas. There are many avenues connected with horror in London and families with teenagers can easily find a lot that will interest their young members. One of these is the London Dungeon that is an interesting mix of a haunted house and clever recreation of historical events. It is more of a horror show in which you can see recreated torture chambers from the Middle Ages and live actors depicting the darker side of that period by using special effects and exciting thrill rides. London also offers the ArcelorMittal Orbit slide at London’s Olympic Park, which is the world’s longest and highest tunnel slide and is sure to make the adrenalin flow fiercely in visitors, particularly the teenagers who will love this adventurous experience as they will reach a sliding speed of up to 15mph, which is quite fast.

Teenagers will also be interested in Jack the Ripper tour that will take them on the path followed by this serial killer during his murderous escapades at night. This tour will take them to fashionable East London and transport them back in time to follow in the trails of the most prolific serial killer lurking around Whitechapel and other nearby areas. However, it is not advisable to take under-16s with you on this tour. Teenagers will also enjoy the London Ghost Bus Tour that will take them on a spooky adventure tour around London.

If you are visiting London with your family The Montcalm Chiswell Street will be the ideal place to stay as it is a family-friendly hotel offering spacious accommodation and facilities designed for families and an excellent location close to many attractions of London. It also has in-house restaurant and bar and other amenities.

Fashion and Music:

Teenagers love shopping and music and as such they would be very happy to be allowed to shop around particularly for punky, alternative and vintage clothing shopping at Camden Market; for independent, modern designers offerings at Shoreditch where they can also visit Rough Trade which is a popular record shop hosting live music events as well. While in Shoreditch, teenagers will also be mesmerised by the street art of the place.

If you wish to stay at a hotel that offers unique features along with luxurious accommodation and personalised services, designed to provide all that you may need and when you need, the best option would be to stay in a Boutique Hotel London where even the décor is unique for each room.
Selfie Craze: It seems to be the age of selfies and teenagers do not miss any opportunity to indulge in it. In London, they can have a great time at Madame Tussauds where they will get the opportunity to click their selfies with their favourite heroes whether they are pop stars, sports stars, Hollywood stars, world leaders, royal figures or cultural icons. They can build up a great selfie album at this museum.

Movie Fans:

A teenager is essentially a movie fan with maybe just a few exceptions. As such they will love to visit Leicester Square which is the venue for most film premieres in London and an ideal place to spot film stars. You can also take your teenagers on a Warner Bros Studio Tour London: The Making of Harry Potter, which will be enjoyed by all members of the family, whether children, teenagers or the adults. It is just a short distance away from London but the short journey is worth taking as it has a lot to offer to Harry Potter fans by way of exhibiting all that was used for filming of Harry Potter films, such as sets, props, costumes, special effect techniques and other connected items. Teenagers will love walking around the Great Hall and seeing how the magic was created. You can also take your teenagers to the Star Wars Identities exhibition in The O2 where they can explore costumes and behind-the-scenes artwork.

O2 Climb:

Another activity that will send the adrenaline rushing in teenagers is the climb to the top of the O2. Only children over the age of 10 are permitted to undertake this activity and that too, if accompanied by an adult as one person over 18 must accompany every two children under 18.
London Bridge Tombs Tour: This is another horror experience for teenagers and it is supposed to be the scariest of all such experiences as the Tombs tour looks much more interactive and more frightening as well. The visit includes being chased, thrilled and frightened. What else can teenagers ask for?

Olympic Park – Velodrome:

Most of the venues at the London Olympics that were used at The London Olympics are now open to the public and as such teenagers who are interested in sports can use them for letting off their energy. Moreover, the Velodrome offers a range of experiences for the whole family, although the actual track experiences are not that cheap but there are a few free activities also available at the Queen Elizabeth Park and the nearby area which will lessen the cost of the experience.

West End Shows:

There is a varied availability of the shows suitable for teenagers at the West End theatres. Moreover, a West End show can easily be combined with a delicious meal before or after the show. A lovely stroll through the city at night after the show will be the icing on the cake.
