Late-night activities in London

London like all major metropolises is abuzz with activity all through the night hours. If you are a nocturnal creature that enjoys varied night time activities ranging from partying at clubs to visiting the cinema among a host of other things, London is the ideal city to spend a terrific holiday!

Choose to stay at a nice relaxed area like in North London at the Park Grand Hounslow hotel and you will never fall short of things to do when the night approaches. While in London you must try the quintessentially British custom of afternoon tea near Heathrow airport at any of the fine cafes or hotels in the area.

Some of the more quirky night-time experiences to enjoy in the city are:

Peek into the universe: One of the best spots for star-spotting, the heavenly not celebrity kind is Hampstead Heath, because of its strategic location as one of the best vantage points in the city. Avoid the harsh glare of the city lights in serene surroundings while gazing up at the night sky with its multitude of stars. The Hampstead Heath Science offers visitors a unique opportunity to gaze into the galaxy (free of cost) on Fridays and Saturdays (20:00 – 22:00 hours). There is a Refracting Telescope set up way back in 1899, which now is state-of-the-art with a remote control system to make it easy to catch sight of those beautiful celestial bodies.

Look for bats in the belfry: Not exactly that but yes spend the night out at Hyde Park to enjoy a bit of bat spotting. One of the larger bat species known as Noctules set out on their nocturnal excursions over the park at night time. There are tours conducted by the London Bart Group that strives to promote the conservation of this mysterious albeit fearsome creature and educates visitors about the mammals.

Head for a nighttime movie: If you are into artsy or cult cinema the head to the Prince Charles Cinema just off Leicester Square. They have all night shows with marathon screenings that offers a boutique cinema experience like none other. With past seasons featuring movies like the James Bond series and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, you can be sure to satiate your cinematic cravings.

Enjoy a tipple: Pop over to Liverpool Street Station to the Polo Bar that is open 24/7 to visitors dropping by for drinks and food. They serve classic English fare including Full English breakfast, scotched eggs pancakes smothered in maple syrup to name just a few delicacies. The perfect spot for late-night revelry followed by a sumptuous meal or (if you prefer) an early breakfast in the wee hours of the next morning!

Join a spooky tour: London’s long history is steeped in turbulence and the macabre, making it ideal for supernatural sightings. For those that have a fascination for otherworldly activities join any of the ghost tours conducted in the city. There is the Black Lion pub located in Hammersmith that is alleged to be haunted y a spirit of a patron that was killed in the pub in the 1800s. There are after-hours tours of other spots as well including Cambridge Gardens’ Phantom bus, Coronet Cinema with its spirit inhabitants and Holland Park as well among other spots in the city.
