How to Make the Most out of Your Work Trip to London

A hub for business innovators the world over, London attracts all manner of work travellers. From the tech hubs of Shoreditch to the financial powerhouse Canary Wharf, the UK capital is teeming with London city meeting rooms, corporate suits and networking events. Travelling for work can be a real privilege, and jet setting at the expense of your company shows just how valuable you are to them, but when you’re on a trip with no time to yourself, you can start to yearn to see more of the places you’re visiting.

London might very well afflict you with the same problem. Catching a moment to yourself can be difficult, even on a family holiday, so if you’re staying at the Montcalm Royal London for work, how can you make the most of the city on a tight schedule?

Walk or cycle to your meetings

One way to make the most of your work meetings is simply to skip the train. Instead of taking the quickest transport method, give yourself an extra hour to walk the streets of London. Just allowing yourself to see the streets will give you an extra dose of the city’s vibrancy, especially with so many historic attractions in every London borough.

If you’re even hungrier for the London cityscape, rent out a Santander Cycle from one of over 800 stations for as little as £1.

Working lunch? Do it with a view

With venues like the Shard offering awe inspiring 30-floor views of London, there’s no excuse for not seeing the city, even when taking a lunch with clients. Many cafes and restaurants along the South Bank and city centre will gift you with astounding views, making you feel like you’re on holiday even if presenting a sales pitch. If you can’t make it to a restaurant or cafe with great views, there are plenty of eateries with unique interiors, giving you a dose of the eclecticism and creativity so abundant in the city.

Peak your head into the free museums

Got half an hour to kill between meetings? Around many of the cities business hubs, you’ll find free galleries, museums and attractions which, although expansive, will give you a chance to scratch the surface of London’s many secrets. From the Tate galleries to the British Museum, just a peak into the many free exhibition spaces will offer a taste of what London could offer you.

London does work drinks with style

The drinking culture in London thrives with post-work boozers and trendy bars. For some extra city sightseeing, a traditional London pub is the perfect place to start. The bar scene in London is sociable and inviting, and can give you and your colleagues insight into local events, traditions and entertainment.

Soak in the entertainment

And speaking of entertainment, London is famous for its West End district and buzzing music scene. There’s no better place to entertain clients than in London, and with countless West End shows, comedy gigs and live music to pick from, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
