How to choose the Best Hotel for your Next Business Trip to London

Heading to London on business soon? If it’s the first time you’re heading here, you’ve no doubt got a list of things you’d like to see and do when (or if!) you get any valuable downtime.

Also, we probably don’t have to tell you that travelling for business can be quite hectic, especially when it comes to visiting a bustling city like London. That’s why we’ve put together some tips to help you choose the best hotel for your next business trip to London, if you’re lucky enough to have a say in where you stay. You’ll be pleased to know there are loads of great hotel city rooms in London so if you’re not in charge, hopefully it will work out anyway!

Check out the reviews

As with booking a hotel for any type of trip, you should always check out the reviews from other travellers before you book, to get a good idea of how good (or not so good) the accommodation is. Sites like Trip Advisor are great for this as they offer real and impartial customer reviews, which you might not get on the website of the hotel itself.

Make sure it’s near where you need to be

Ok, this sounds super obvious, but it’s really important. London is a fairly big city, and the centre occupies a lot of space. So even if a hotel promises a ‘central’ location, it might not be the area of central that you need. You’re likely to be where a lot of the business travellers flock to - the City - and there are lots of great hotels there that are perfect for those on business, such as the Montcalm hotel London.

Check the amenities

Travelling on business can really take its toll on your mind and body. After all, it’s pretty exhausting. So it’s a good idea to have a look at what amenities and facilities the hotel has to cater to your wellbeing. This can be as simple as 24/7 room service - perfect for when you just need to collapse in bed alone after a long day, or as luxurious as a spa and on-site gym. With the last two, just make sure access is included in the price of the booking.

Make sure they have good Wi-Fi

You’re likely to need the internet at least one time during your stay, and it’ll need to be good (and free, preferably). So free and unlimited in-room Wi-Fi access should be near the top of your must-have list. Some hotels put a cap on your daily usage, so make sure you chose a hotel where access is unlimited to avoid surprise fees.

Make sure it’s safe and secure

It goes without saying that your hotel should always keep you safe. As well as researching the local neighbourhood of the hotel, and checking out the comments from the previous customers, another way to make sure your hotel is going to be right for you is checking their safety and security measures. The hotel should always be staffed by people on the front desk, and it should be well lit so you feel secure going back to your room late at night. Plus, the lift should be accessed via a room key, to ensure that only guests have access to the rooms.
