Exploring the East London Nightlife

London is well-known for its 7 day-a-week, late-night hot spots. With clubs, bars and entertainment venues running late into the night (and into the early morning!), guests at hotels near Chiswell Street and the Barbican are well placed for late-night revelry.

London attracts all manner of tourists and whether they’re visiting on business or for leisure, everyone needs a little time to unwind. There’s no better entertainment hub than East London, not just because of its luxury accommodation at great value prices, but because of its eclectic menu of diverse entertainment. Whether it’s a cultural night out at a world-class music venue, nationally renowned club nights or an intimate bar, there’s something for every type of night owl in the UK capital.

So, with East London built on a 65 square mile network of locales and boroughs, there’s a lot to sift through, especially if you’re planning an impromptu night on the town. Here are the areas to watch out for, and some highlights to enjoy whilst you’re there.

Shoreditch

The crown king of central entertainment hubs, Shoreditch is the go-to spot for clubbing, theatre and music events. With stand out venues such as XOYO and Village Underground showcasing some of the best musicians and DJ’s in the world - and on a daily basis too - Shoreditch has been the dazzling go-to for fun and frivolity since the Victorian era.

With hotels near the Brewery Londonl offering affordable accommodation to tourists, it’s no surprise that entertainment has built up around this Liverpool Street Station serving area.

Dalston

For arty club nights, theatre and gigs, Dalston offers a truly alternative night out. With art exhibition spaces-cum-bars in the guise of SET Dalston, and the Arcola offering up late-night clubbing and off-West End theatre, Dalston is a must-see for the curious and adventurous.

Hackney

Easy to reach from the city centre, Hackney’s London Fields area offers up iconic music venues such as Oval Space and the Netil 360 rooftop bar. With a great range of traditional British pubs dotted around the high street, the Hackney Empire is also worth watching out for. As a community-focused family entertainment theatre, the Empire offers accessible shows and a great evening out.

Hackney Wick

Based on the fringes of East London, Hackney Wick is walkable from the internationally serving Stratford Station and offers up late-night clubbing, underground warehouse parties and beautiful canal side bars. A perfect place for date night as well as being an exciting escape for friends, Hackney Wick is built around repurposed industrial estates and warehouses, offering a community-driven cultural haven.

Bethnal Green

Just a short walk from Hackney and one train stop from Liverpool Street Station, Bethnal Green is a little more low key than the other spots on this list. Comprising of a network of traditional British boozers, you’ll also find off the beaten track social clubs and trendy venues. Furthermore, Bethnal Green and the nearby Whitechapel offer delectable doses of dining deliciousness, the large Bangladeshi and Indian community having established a smattering of authentic curry houses across the neighbourhoods.
